One thing on 'honey do" list started.

This is the deck my wife has wanted me to build for three years. My father and I are just about finished now. She wanted it around the tree so she would have some shade at all times of the day. This is with some framing done.
This is just after we set our posts and put most of the outer 2x8's on it. We have most of the framing done and are finished with the bracing. It is super strong. When I build stuff it is sturdy. Some may say overkill, but I say it will last and last and last. It's 12x16. After the railings and lattice underpinning are done I need to build some flower beds around it. I think it will look great when finished and beautiful flowers are planted around it.

Long time; no see!

It's been awhile since I posted. I was protesting these DSL prices with my Internet provider. They raised the price and I refused to pay. Anyway as you see we put a new roof on our house back in April during the dry spell we had here. It's been awhile since we had a dry day or two. I had a couple of friends and my father help me. We took it down to the square and rebuilt the entire roof. We put up new rafters and added a lot of bracing and downed the slope to a 4/12 pitch.
It came out perfect. The house is over a hundred years old and not exactly square and level. The roof is square and level now and no leaks through all that rain we had.

That large box in the middle is an old chimney that was made out of cut stone. It was to big and heavy to take down so we boxed it up and I'm going to cover it later on. I had quite the mess to clean up afterwards. It took as long as the tearing down and the rebuilding put together. It is one thing I can cross off my list. Next is that deck my wife has been wanting.
